3a ix). Examine Brainstorming as a method of teaching
It is a technique of generating ideas from the learners. It involves posing a question or challenge to the learners and either the teacher or leader of the group-taking note of all the possible answers/responses before discussing and evaluating them. The ideas generated make excellent springboards for discussion and problem solving. The technique is important because:
- It stimulates meaningful discussion on a given issue or problem.
- It stimulates creative thinking.
- Many students are encouraged to respond to the question thus encouraging full participation from the learners.
- It leads to the development of democratic principles in learners because they learn to express their ideas/feelings freely without any inhibitions.
